What did you like about the class?
I liked how the things we learned were always interesting, and I really enjoyed your teaching style. It made it a lot easier to pay attention when my ears would always be pricked for your next joke or witty remark.

What was your favorite activity or project?
It would definitely have to be the brain project we did at the beginning of the year. I love playing with Play-Doh, and to make it even better, I got a 100 on a major grade for it :D
What didn't you like about the class?
I did not like the worksheets we had to do when you were gone. I felt like they were pointless because most of the times, they did not seem to correlate with what we were currently learning. I dreaded the days when you were gone!!! :'[
What do you think I should leave out next year?
More in class projects like the senses project and the play doh brain.
Do you have any suggestions or ideas for things I could do next year in AP Psych?
Same as above.
Do you have any suggestions or ideas for next semester in AP Econ?
Yes. Keep up the good work!

I really enjoyed your class Mrs. Halfen. I'll see you next semester in economics!

Week 5: Antidepressant Blog :[

I'm glad that I finally stumbled across an anti depressant article. I've been hearing a lot them recently. You always hear of celebrities taking zoloft and all this other medication for depression. Heath Ledger recently died of overdosing of sleeping pills and anti depressants. They can be a very dangerous thing if abused. I'm glad to hear that anti depressants are becoming less popular and being discredited because they seem to cause more problems than they create.
Week 4

According to the Jung Typology test, I am the INTJ type.

  • slightly expressed introvert (11%)
  • moderately expressed intuitive personality (38%)
  • slightly expressed thinking personality (12%)
  • moderately expressed judging personality (44%)
I think for the most part this is true. I am moderate in most aspects of decision making and slightly shy.

According to the Harry Potter sorting hat test, I belong in the Slytherin House.

Slytherin students are typically cunning and hungry for power. Important members include Draco Malfoy (Harry's nemesis), Professor Severus Snape (head of Slytherin), and Lord Voldemort

I agree with the quiz. I do love power, and slytherin was always my favorite house in Harry Potter. I am rebellious.

EQ Test
25 - 34
People in this range often find themselves blowing up at their co-workers, even their loved ones. They seem to have less 'buffer' for dealing with change, stress and difficulty.

I completely agree with the validity of the EQ test. I do get angry with people easily, especially the ones I hold closest. It's a problem that I need to fix.

Online Attraction Test

Results with chart

The results made me seem really shallow which I don't think I am. I guess every guy can be a little shallow, but the results just overdid it. It's not my fault the survey had really unattractive girls to rate!

Religion Study

Results with chart

For the most part, I agree with the results. My parents are Catholic, but I have not been to church in a long time, and my parents stopped enforcing religious teachings at home, so naturally I became atheist. It was mostly taking science classes and watching the discovery and history channel that made me feel the way I do.
Week 3: Personality Disorders

Dear Mom and Dad,

School is not fun. Earlier today, I almost got arrested for walking around the campus in my underwear. Whoever said that that was illegal? I don't think it should be. People in my new classes keep introducing themselves to me, but for some reason, I like telling them my name is Johnny even though we both know that it's not. hahahahahaha.

I am failing. I can never get my homework done. I don't know why. I guess waiting until the last minute is never good. Earlier today, I biked through streets blindfolded. It was fun, and I don't think it was dangerous at all.

By the way, can you send me more rent money? I spent it all on ping pong balls.

love you guys!

Week 2: Anxiety Disorders

Case Study 2: Hannah, age 55, was in a major car accident 20 years ago during a cross country trip. Ever since, she has been unable to drive on major highways. Although she does drive, she goes to great length to travel only on back roads and scenic routes. She is able to go where she wants but it often takes her much longer to get there than it should.

I believe that Carrie Smith is suffering from acute stress disorder. In her tragic accident, she was exposed to a near death experience that probably caused her great fear. Those are the classic factors in determining if someone has acute stress disorder. She tries to avoid bringing back thoughts of her tragic experience by avoid major highways and taking back roads. I recommend that Carrie see a therapist to talk over the accident and her feelings and slowly have her sit in the passenger seat while being driven on a highway. She will become accustomed to the fact that highways are not as dangerous as she has perceived them to be since her accident, and will slowly overcome her phobia of highways.

Carrie Fisher was born October 21, 1956 to a privileged life in Beverly Hills, California. She was the daughter of actor Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds. They were divorced when she was only 2. Carrie started acting in her young teens to help with her mother's night club act. Everything in her life seemed okay, at least at the time.

At the age of 15, she was diagnosed with bipolar disease and manic depression. Her mother, Debbie, claims that manic depression runs in the family and that both her and Carrie's father suffer from the ailing disease. Despite these setbacks, Carrie still went on to be a predominant actress and starred in the Star Wars trilogies as Princess Leia along with Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford. Of those three though, only Harrison Ford went onto become a famous actor. Carrie and Mark's acting career did not advance far after Star Wars.

During the 1970's, Carrie began using cocaine for recreational use which unfortunately lead to an addiction. In the 1980's, she developed a severe alcohol problem along with her drug use, and finally, she was hospitalized in 1985 after an overdose. She reluctantly agreed to enter rehab. Many analysists contribute her drug use to why she never became a more successful actress after Star Wars. Never once though did she use the excuse of being a bipolar or depression to constitute her drug use, and Carrie should be congratulated for seeking help and overcoming drugs.
